yeah mickey, i read what you wrote earlier...and agreed with that for the most part...though $500 for a pc isn't too out of reach in my opinion.

recently looked up the first pc "Altair 8800"(with no moinitor display) from 1975 and now we have the "ipad"...let's see if the ipad would revolutionize the industry like what iphone & ipod have done.

$500 is for a device with real pc functionalities then yes.  There are still a lot of things that a PC can do but an iPad can't.  Say, I was looking for an app that can convert mp3, but I could not find any for ipod touch.  Another time, I was looking for an app to capture streaming audio, but again, couldn't find any.  Just so many things cannot be done.   If it is the same for iPad, I will be very frustrated if I am stuck with an iPad.

64GB is $700 and 64GB with 3G is $830

hmm....i am sure the pirate version "HiPad" from mainland will cost at least 1/3 less with more features (keep us posted, zebra)...though protection armors may be needed for users.

not yet, but once it dominates the market, i wouldn't be surprised to see similar applications available for it.

Yeah, exactly.  So I would wait for that day to come when it is "fully" ready.    It is quite like the iPhone 3Gs today.  If I got the first generation of iPhone, I don't think I'd have been enjoying it as much because it was lack of a lot of things that a 3Gs offers and the performance were not as good neither.  But the price for 3Gs is higher than the first generation of iPhone woh.  That also mean it is possible that when an iPad become fully ready, the price will be higher too because of the cost of building in more hardware and newer technologies.  I think the first accessories I want to see are external mouse and keyboard.  The original design is good for travelling or "on the road" computer access, but when comes to more serious work like programming or graphic design, I will need a real keyboard or at least a stylus, respectively.   And you are so right, multi-tasking is super important.  One of the main complains I have for iPhone is the lack of multi-tasking capability!  Even Android phones support that I heard.

coolio, you are the man!  Are you using a 486 at home still?    We should open an "antique" section for all these!  Writes posts such as "how to print photo using dot matrix printers" or "how to speed up the connection on 56k modem".
