here in the states their prices start at $35 in walmart, made by Magnavox (Phillips) which is still considered a brand name, at least to me
being somewhat a penny pincher myself, I still believe in spending a bit more for brand name electronics, my first dvd player is a Pioneer which i bought back in 1999, still up and running, though quite bulky in size...
yeah, i am aware of the up-conversion functionality would not work on s-video nor composite/rca cable....but I didn't know it also works with component cable?!...let me look into it...
currently my setup is a 5 years old Toshiba 30" CRT widescreen hdtv, and a pioneer progressive scan dvd player connected through component video cable.
and since my tv has dvi input, i plan to take advantage of it if i decided to go ahead getting the HD up-conversion dvd player, with a DVI to HDMI cable $20 - 30.
assuming hdmi/dvi has a larger bandwideth for data transfer than component video, since it's digital...
