Well....I can't tell it has a big chance to find her phone.  But once you reported to Fido/Roger, they should have your phone's IMEI #.  Then they can lock it and the phone can't be use anymore.

As I know.....some people just think it is a small case, then not necessary to report to police or fido/rogers.  But if a crimincal got you phone or bought it from somewhere, then use it for some bad thing.  After the cops check out that is your cell.....then you will be in their investation.

She may need to request Rogers to lock the IMEI also.

IMEI.....is the phone's serial #.  Every phone has it own serial #.  If you key in *#06# in your phone, then you can see your phone IMEI #.  

If Rogers locks the IMEI#, when the phone activate or used again (Even the next user switch the other SIM card), they still know that's a reported lost phone.  And they shouldn't let that phone work.

Actually, people should always write down their cell's IMEI # and keep it in another place.  In case you lost your phone, you can tell Fido/Rogers about your IMEI # and they can help you to lock the phone ASAP.

i doubt her friend has recorded the IMEI number if she did not even back up the family photos.
