I've been using TMPGEnc for sometimes, but one frustrating thing is it hangs quite often (usually with 1 second remaining). This happens even with batch mode. Has anyone experienced the same proble ...
Read the post just above yours.
When you'd installed codec packs, sometimes it will cause issues. If you don't want to do a clean install of the OS, you can either try to find out which codecs are giving you problems by disable them one by one, see which one is causing the conflicts or use the frameserving methods.
Obviously, the first method will need more experienced skills and painstaking. I'd advise the frameserve method.
There are two frameserving methods, one is using VirtualDub and the other is through AVISynth.
Since Virtualdub will only accept VFW( Video For Windows ) files, if you are converting Realmedia files which use Directshow to decode, the only option is to use avisynth.
Your particular problem, hang at the last second of the clip, usually are caused by Real format files (rm, rmvb). I have discovered this format mux(combine) the video and audio streams in a peculiar manner. Another reason I suspect is when the last frame of the video stream does not end with an ' I ' (key) frame.
To solve this, you can try enabling and set the 'Source Range' function in TmpgEnc's advance menu. Double click 'Source Range', set the start frame to 0 and move the slider all the way to the end, click and set the last frame range.
