Mine is a simplified version.  And it works pretty well in TMPGEnc Plus Chinese version 2.54.



I bought a Philips DVP642 DVD Player for US$30 for my parent.  It can play DVD-ISO.  So after I converted to mpg, I just burn a regular data dvd (dvd-iso), which can fit 10 45-minute mpg files.  Then my parent can play and watch those mpg files using the Philips player.  I found it very convenient.  And the good part is that in future I can always extract the mpg files out and manipulate them (such as converting to dvd video format if I really need to).  If all you have is the dvd video disc, it is a pain to extract those video out.  I think you know what I mean.

I am sure other members have great ideas to share!  So, feel free to post your ideas and experiences!

英文版個原理係一樣﹐但係我以前試過﹐但轉出黎係有畫面無聲﹐之後用中文版 ok 後﹐就冇研究點解英文版會唔得。

The reason for the English TMPEGEnc doesn't work is because they don't have a audio decoder included inside the TMPEGEnc,(don't know why, it seems like they don't have RealAudio decoder in place when they open it using directshow filter). which is a pain if you don't extract the audio out in the first place.

I might re-white the tutorial for it since so many people asking me this type of questions. as well as a tutorial for converting mpg or avi into DVD disc.


yep, your is more simplified then me, I just list everything so that every people would understand the concept of it, since it still got lots to learn about video editing and converting. and that tutorial works for me

hmm...if you just have DVD disc on your hand and its not DVD-iso disc, you still can extract the video out as mpg, all you need is DVD Decrypter or smartripper and set it up to read IFO, it will show every chapter on your disc, then you can extract it as a VOB for doing further converting or editing.

Yeah!  It is great to have different tutorials so member can pick.  Sometimes, one works for someone but not for others.  It is a good idea to have a list of working solutions ready for reference.  


Thanks!  I am sure it is possible.  I just don't know the right tool/software to do it.  But I am sure if I ask, people like you who recommend the right tools to solve my problems!

For rmvb files and/or avi files, you should use the software call "Avisynth" is free just search for it and download and install it.
Once you install it; it has a sample file in text format just open it and type in the path of the video file and save as ("file_name".avs); you may test it
with right button and open it with your video viewer ie. media player; or real player, to see it will play the video. Than you use TMPGEnc to open the
video file and put the avs file on the audio thats it. After encode you can play the mpg file to see if you got the audio working?

I've been using TMPGEnc for sometimes, but one frustrating thing is it hangs quite often (usually with 1 second remaining). This happens even with batch mode. Has anyone experienced the same problem? If so, any way to fix it.

I found TMPGEnc better than WinAvi in terms of quality and file size of the output.

If you want to change to DVD, you can use DVDSANTA or ALLOK RM TO AVI DVD. This is very easy and fast. try it !! And the quality is very nice !
