next is next.....

haha.. so you cannot answer?  to me, "next" means "the immediate coming one".  when you are the first person in line waiting, when I call "next person", I expect you to come up, not the person behind you.  

ok....so when you call "next person", you expect me to come up, not the person behind me...but don't forget it can't apply when I'm the very 1st person and no one before me....

and this can't apply to time

that means "next is not next" sometimes lor.  when it is applied to "time", next is not "next".  or I should say, not every one see "next" as "next" when we are talking about dates.

when you are driving, if I tell you to turn left on the next traffic light, you will turn on the first light you see or the second light you see?

it means to me "next" after "this"

turn right on next traffic light <<< so you have to pass "this" traffic light then to "next" traffic light; therefore, 2nd traffic light is "next" traffic light and 1st traffic light is "this" traffic light

let's say: today is Tuesday, March 12, 2013....are you going to call March 16, 2013 "next Saturday"?
