the parents need to to think in terms of their children's point of view.  going to a 名校 but cannot achieve good test scores doesn't make the kid feel any better.  if the kid doesn't meet the standards of the school, he/she will be putting extra effort and the end results may not even be optimal.  there's a reason why schools are ranked by level so that students of similar abilities can learn together without too much competition and pressure.

the parents make their kids flunk and it ultimately lowers the kids confidence and self-esteem because every student in the grade is younger than them.  psychologically, this is not a healthy path of growth...

i didn't go to a 名校 but i still got into a good uni...and all it matters is if you are willing to work towards your goal.  but then again, the kid is too young to say anything or reject their parents' decision.
