我住響 Maryland，近 Washington D.C.。

A Maltese would be good for a small apartment type environment.  They arein the average about 7.5 - 9 lbs each.  Low maintenance and they don't bark as much as other small or toy dogs like Chijuajua.

But be expect that it will follow you around all day long as it's a born lap dog.

Mine is sweet and good company.

I highly recommended adopting! They have tons of dogs at SPCA or shelters like that in most provinces. I am from Canada too, and I live in the west coast. I adopted a puppy a couple years ago and then adopted another one a year later. They worked out great. I think it's much better to adopt then to buy from the breeders or puppy mills. Those places are often poorly maintained, and all they want is just to make money out of those poor little things. Please don't buy from a pet shop! Here in BC we have a few pet shops that still carry live stocks in the shops! How inhumane!
I don't mean to come across so strong on adopting, but it's always great to help and save animals that are in need.
